SV Spielberg

SV Spielberg is a German association football club based in Spielberg, a district of Karlsbad, Baden-Württemberg. Established in 1920, the club is primarily known for its red and white colours and its ascent through the German football league system, reaching the fourth tier Regionalliga Südwest in the mid-2010s.

History

Founded in 1920, SV Spielberg spent the majority of its early history competing in local and regional amateur leagues within Baden-Württemberg. The club steadily developed its infrastructure and competitive strength, laying the groundwork for its future success.

The club's rise to prominence began in the early 21st century. After several successful seasons in the lower divisions, SV Spielberg achieved promotion to the Verbandsliga Baden, the sixth tier of the German football league system, in the mid-2000s. Their momentum continued, and in 2007, they secured promotion to the Oberliga Baden-Württemberg (V), the highest state-level league.

SV Spielberg became a consistent presence in the Oberliga, establishing themselves as a competitive side. The peak of their achievement came in the 2014–15 season, when the club won the Oberliga Baden-Württemberg championship. This historic title earned them promotion to the Regionalliga Südwest (IV), the fourth tier of German football, for the 2015–16 season.

Their tenure in the Regionalliga Südwest proved challenging, and SV Spielberg was relegated back to the Oberliga Baden-Württemberg after a single season. The club subsequently faced further relegations, including a return to the Verbandsliga Baden. Since then, SV Spielberg has continued to compete in the upper amateur divisions, maintaining its community focus and commitment to local football development.

SV Spielberg plays its home matches at the Stadion am Talacker in Karlsbad-Spielberg. The stadium serves as the heart of the club's activities and a focal point for local football fans.
