SS Sutlej was a 3,549-ton steamship built for the Nourse Line around 1907 by Charles Connell & Company Limited, Glasgow, Scotland. She was powered by a single screw, triple expansion steam engine producing 425 horsepower (317 kW).
Like other Nourse Line vessels, SS Sutlej was primarily used for the transportation of Indian indentured labourers to British and Dutch colonies. Her documented voyages include multiple trips to Trinidad, British Guiana (now Guyana), Surinam, and Fiji between 1908 and 1916. Notable voyages include:
- Arrival in Trinidad on 1 October 1908 with 547 passengers (4 deaths during voyage)
- Arrival in Fiji on 25 June 1911 with 850 passengers
- Arrival in Trinidad on 11 December 1912 with 372 passengers (5 deaths)
- Arrival in Fiji on 11 November 1916 with 888 passengers
SS Sutlej was the last ship to transport Indian indentured labourers to Fiji. In 1929, she was sold to the Sun Shipping Company of London and renamed Cape St. Francis.
