Séamus Woulfe (born 1961) is an Irish lawyer and jurist who has served as a Judge of the Supreme Court of Ireland since his appointment in 2022. Prior to his elevation to the Supreme Court, he served as a Judge of the High Court of Ireland from 2018 to 2022. Woulfe is a former senior counsel with extensive experience in commercial and public law.
Early life and education
Séamus Woulfe was born in Dublin, Ireland, in 1961. He attended secondary school in Dublin before pursuing higher education at Trinity College Dublin, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree. He subsequently studied law at the King’s Inns, qualifying as a barrister in 1985.
Legal career
Woulfe was called to the Bar of Ireland in 1985 and built a practice that focused on commercial litigation, banking law, and public law matters.
