Russell Baze

Russell Baze (born February 15, 1957) is an American former Thoroughbred racehorse jockey, best known for holding the North American record for most career wins. Over a career spanning more than four decades, Baze amassed 12,844 victories, surpassing the previous record held by fellow jockey Bill Shoemaker. He was inducted into the National Museum of Racing and Hall of Fame in 2016.

Early life and background
Russell Baze was born in Fresno, California, into a family with deep ties to horse racing. His father, Lloyd Baze, and his uncle, the Hall of Fame jockey and trainer Carl Baze, introduced him to the sport at an early age.
