Rudresh Gowda

Rudresh Gowda (17 October 1955 – 24 March 2018) was an Indian politician and lawyer from Karnataka. He began his political career with the Janata Party in 1985, serving on the Hassan District Council until 1996. Gowda was elected to the 11th Lok Sabha, representing the Hassan constituency as a member of the Janata Dal and Janata Party from May 1996 to December 1997.

In 1999 he joined Janata Dal (Secular) and later switched to the Indian National Congress in 2004. He was elected to the Karnataka Legislative Assembly from the Belur constituency in 2008 and re‑elected in 2013, serving until his death in 2018.

Gowda held a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) degree and was noted for his work in regional politics. He suffered a heart attack on 23 March 2018 and died of multiple organ failure the following day in Bangalore at the age of 62.
