Ross Terrio (born October 14, 1969) is an American former professional baseball catcher. He was a highly touted prospect who played in the minor leagues for seven seasons, primarily within the Boston Red Sox and Cincinnati Reds organizations.
Early Life and Draft Terrio was born in Mobile, Alabama. He attended Theodore High School in Theodore, Alabama, where he was a standout baseball player. His performance as a catcher drew significant attention from Major League Baseball scouts. In the 1987 Major League Baseball draft, Terrio was selected by the Boston Red Sox in the first round as the eighth overall pick. He was one of the top high school prospects chosen in that draft class.
Professional Career Terrio began his professional career in 1987 with the Elmira Pioneers, the Red Sox's Class A Short Season affiliate. He progressed through the Red Sox farm system, playing for teams such as the Winter Haven Red Sox (Class A Advanced), Lynchburg Red Sox (Class A Advanced), and New Britain Red Sox (Double-A).
In 1992, Terrio reached the Triple-A level with the Pawtucket Red Sox. Later that year, he was traded to the Cincinnati Reds organization. He continued to play in their minor league system, primarily at the Double-A and Triple-A levels. Terrio's professional career concluded in 1993. Despite being a high first-round pick, he did not reach Major League Baseball.
