Ross McGowan

Ross McGowan (born 23 April 1982) is an English professional golfer who plays on the European Tour.

Early Life and Amateur Career McGowan was born in Cheam, London, England. He had a successful amateur career, representing England and Great Britain & Ireland. Notable amateur achievements include winning the English Amateur Championship in 2003 and playing in the Walker Cup in 2003. He turned professional in 2004.

Professional Career

Challenge Tour McGowan initially competed on the Challenge Tour, the European Tour's developmental circuit. He secured his first professional victory at the 2007 English Challenge. His consistent performance led to him finishing high enough on the Challenge Tour Order of Merit to earn his European Tour card for the 2008 season. He later returned to the Challenge Tour at various points in his career, winning the 2023 Dormy Open.

European Tour McGowan quickly made an impact on the European Tour. His breakthrough win came in 2009 at the Valderrama Andalucia Masters, a significant event on the European Tour schedule. This victory helped him to finish in the top 20 of the European Tour Order of Merit that year.

After several seasons of mixed results, including periods where he struggled with form and injuries, McGowan rediscovered his winning touch over a decade later. In October 2020, he claimed his second European Tour title at the Italian Open, a victory that marked a significant comeback in his career.

Throughout his career, McGowan has been known for his solid ball-striking and consistent play, competing in numerous tournaments across the globe.
