Rosie (band)

Rosie was an American all-female hard rock band formed in Los Angeles, California, during the mid-1970s. The band is primarily known for its self-titled debut and only album, released in 1977 on RCA Records.

History and Style: Rosie emerged during an era when female-fronted rock bands were gaining more prominence. Their sound was characterized by a raw, guitar-driven hard rock style, often compared to bands like Runaways, another Los Angeles-based all-female group from the same period, who were also produced by Kim Fowley. Rosie's music blended powerful vocals with energetic instrumentation.

Members: The lineup for their 1977 album included:

  • Rosi C. Hertlein (vocals)
  • Pamela Nance (guitar)
  • Sherry Finkel (bass)
  • Linda Shivers (drums)

Album and Legacy: Their sole album, ''Rosie'', featured tracks such as "Midnight Rendezvous" and "Hit Me with Your Lightning." Despite being produced by the notable Kim Fowley and having a distinctive sound, the band did not achieve widespread commercial success or release further material. They toured briefly, including opening for acts like Van Halen, but ultimately disbanded after their debut.

Rosie remains a notable, albeit cult, act in the history of all-female rock bands of the 1970s, representing a period of growing female participation and influence in hard rock music.
