Rongsen Jonathan

Rongsen Jonathan (born 4 October 1986) is an Indian cricketer who captains the Nagaland cricket team in domestic competitions. He is classified as an all‑rounder, batting right‑handed in the middle order and bowling right‑arm medium pace.

Early life and education
Jonathan was born in Umaga, Karnataka, India, and is a native of Akhoya village in the Mokokchung district of Nagaland. In 1997 his family relocated to Bengaluru, where he attended St Joseph’s Boys’ High School. There he played cricket alongside future international player Robin Uthappa and earned a best‑batsman award in the school’s Cottonian Shield tournament, which led to his selection for the Karnataka under‑16 team.

After moving from Railways, Jonathan joined Nagaland ahead of the 2018–19 Ranji Trophy. He was the leading run‑scorer for Nagaland in the 2018–19 Syed Mushtaq Ali T20 Trophy, accumulating 121 runs. In September 2019 he scored a century (103* runs) in a Vijay Hazare Trophy match against Manipur; the match was later abandoned after 8.4 overs of the second innings, rendering the century unofficial.

Overseas experience
In March 2021, Jonathan signed as a replacement player for Mitchell Van Buuren with Morecambe Cricket Club in the United Kingdom for the 2021 season.
