1. Crofton Robert "Ron" Mudge (1920–1985) — Australian rules footballer. He played for the St Kilda Football Club in the Victorian Football League (VFL) from 1940 to 1942, appearing in 11 games and scoring 2 goals. Standing 179 cm (5 ft 10 in) and weighing 73 kg (161 lb), he originally played for Mordialloc in the Federal Football League (FFL). His VFL career was cut short, likely due to the impact of World War II. He was born in Carlton, Victoria, and died in Fitzroy, Victoria.
2. Dr. Ronald Richard Mudge Jr. (born February 28, 1970) — American Lutheran theologian and academic administrator. He serves as Provost and Chief Academic Officer and Professor of Exegetical Theology at Concordia Seminary in St. Louis, Missouri. He earned a B.A. in English and Music from the University of Michigan-Flint (1992), an M.Div. from Concordia Seminary (1996), and a Ph.D. in Biblical Studies from Concordia Seminary (2012), with a dissertation on shame discourse in Ezekiel 36:16–32. From 1996 to 2006, he served as a missionary in French-speaking Africa. He later taught at Concordia University Wisconsin (2007–2022) before returning to Concordia Seminary as Provost in 2022. His scholarly interests include Old Testament prophetic literature, biblical responses to popular culture, and the role of shame in Scripture. He is currently researching a Lutheran commentary on the Book of Zephaniah. He and his wife, Lisa, have six children.
