Robin Schimminger (born May 1, 1947) is an American politician who served as a member of the New York State Assembly representing the 138th district, which includes parts of Buffalo and Erie County. A member of the Democratic Party, Schimminger was first elected to the Assembly in 1977 and remained in office until his retirement in 2020, making him one of the longest‑serving legislators in New York state history.
Early life and education
Schimminger was born in Buffalo, New York. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in economics from the State University of New York at Buffalo and later obtained a Juris Doctor from Buffalo Law School.
Political career
During his tenure in the Assembly, Schimminger was noted for his work on fiscal policy and government finance. He served as chair of the Assembly Committee on Ways and Means, where he oversaw budgetary matters and tax legislation.
