Robert E. Gilligan is an American jurist who served as a judge in the Massachusetts District Court system for nearly three decades. He is most widely recognized for his long tenure as the Presiding Justice of the Quincy District Court.
Early Life and Education Born and raised in Quincy, Massachusetts, Robert E. Gilligan attended Boston College for his undergraduate studies. He later pursued a legal education, earning his Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from the New England School of Law.
Legal and Judicial Career Prior to his appointment to the bench, Gilligan practiced law for 18 years. He was involved in private practice, handling a variety of legal matters.
