Robert C. Vaden (born November 22, 1947 – died December 10, 2021) was an American attorney and judge who served prominently in Virginia's legal system. He is best known for his long tenure as a Circuit Court Judge for the 22nd Judicial Circuit of Virginia.
Biography
Born in Danville, Virginia, Robert C. Vaden Jr. (often referred to simply as Robert C. Vaden) pursued his higher education at the University of Virginia, where he earned his undergraduate degree. He then attended the T.C. Williams School of Law at the University of Richmond, receiving his Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree.
Vaden began his legal career practicing law in Southside Virginia, particularly in Gretna and Pittsylvania County. His dedication and legal acumen led him to serve as the Commonwealth's Attorney for Pittsylvania County, a position where he was responsible for prosecuting criminal cases on behalf of the Commonwealth.
In recognition of his legal experience and judicial temperament, Vaden was appointed as a Circuit Court Judge for the 22nd Judicial Circuit of Virginia. This circuit covers Franklin, Henry, and Pittsylvania Counties, as well as the City of Martinsville. He served on the bench for many years, presiding over a wide range of civil and criminal cases, and was known for his fairness, meticulousness, and deep understanding of the law.
Beyond his judicial duties, Vaden was an active member of the Virginia State Bar and contributed to various legal organizations. He was also deeply involved in his local community and church, reflecting a commitment to public service both professionally and personally.
