Robert C. Elston

Robert C. Elston (born 1932) is an American statistical geneticist noted for his contributions to the development of methods for genetic linkage analysis and the statistical study of complex traits. He is best known as co‑author of the Elston–Stewart algorithm, a computational technique introduced in 1971 for calculating likelihoods in pedigree analysis, which enabled the analysis of large families in genetic epidemiology.
