Robbie Fradd is a retired South African-born professional jockey who achieved international recognition for his career in horse racing across South Africa, Hong Kong, and Australia.
Fradd began his career in South Africa, where he established himself as a leading rider before moving to the Hong Kong racing circuit in the late 1990s. He reached a career peak during the 1999–2000 racing season when he won the Hong Kong Jockeys' Championship, breaking the long-standing dominance of Basil Marcus. During his tenure in Hong Kong, Fradd was notably associated with the champion horse Fairy King Prawn, whom he rode to victory in the 2000 Yasuda Kinen in Japan, marking a significant international win for a Hong Kong-trained horse.
In 2014, Fradd relocated to Australia and settled in Queensland. He became a prominent figure in the Brisbane metropolitan racing scene, consistently finishing near the top of the jockeys' premiership standings and winning several Group-level races. Throughout his career, he was known for his tactical versatility and experience in multiple racing jurisdictions.
Fradd officially announced his retirement from professional racing in January 2023. The decision followed medical advice after he underwent a heart procedure that prevented him from continuing the physical rigors required for competitive riding. Over a career spanning four decades, Fradd recorded over 2,500 career wins, including more than 40 at the Group 1 level.
