Rie Rasmussen (born 6 March 1978) is a Danish actress, model, director, and musician. She began her career as a fashion model in the late 1990s, appearing in campaigns for brands such as Armani, Chanel, and Dior, and walking the runway for designers including Versace and Calvin Klein.
Acting career Rasmussen made her film debut in the Danish thriller Manslaughter (2005), for which she received a nomination for the Bodil Award for Best Actress. She subsequently appeared in a number of international productions, including:
- The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo (2009) – as a supporting character in the Swedish adaptation of Stieg Larsson's novel.
- Sexual Healing (2012) – a drama directed by Ken Russell.
- The Murder of a Small Town (2013) – a Danish crime thriller.
She has also acted in television series such as the Danish drama Borgen (2010) and the British miniseries The Night Manager (2016).
Directing and filmmaking Rasmussen transitioned to directing with the short film Seduced and Abandoned (2014), which premiered at the Cannes Film Festival's Directors' Fortnight. The short received critical attention for its visual style and was nominated for a Danish Film Critics Association Award.
In 2018, she directed the feature-length documentary The Healing Music Project, which explores the therapeutic use of music in trauma recovery. The film was screened at several international festivals, including the Toronto International Film Festival.
Music Under the moniker "RieRasmus," she released her debut single “Warrior” in 2015, blending electronic and alternative rock influences. The track charted modestly in Denmark and was featured in the soundtrack of Seduced and Abandoned.
Personal life Rasmussen was born in Copenhagen, Denmark, and raised in a family with strong artistic interests. She studied visual arts at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts before entering the modeling industry. She is fluent in Danish, English, and German.
