Richard Hamilton (actor)

Richard Hamilton (1920 – 2004) was an American character actor known for his extensive work in film, television, and theater. He appeared in over 50 films and numerous television shows, often playing authority figures such as judges, lawyers, and military officers. His career spanned several decades, with notable appearances in films like The Hustler (1961), Seconds (1966), Jaws (1975) as Mayor Larry Vaughn, and Meteor (1979). On television, he had recurring roles on shows such as All My Children, The Practice, and Law & Order. He was also a respected stage actor, performing in numerous productions on and off Broadway. Hamilton was known for his versatility and ability to portray a wide range of characters convincingly. He was a graduate of the University of Iowa.
