Riccardo Gaiola

Riccardo Gaiola (born 7 March 1997) is an Italian rugby union player who primarily plays as a flanker.

Early Life and Junior Career Born in Padova, Italy, Gaiola began his rugby career in the youth ranks of Petrarca Padova, one of Italy's most historic rugby clubs. His talent was recognized early, leading to his selection for national junior teams.

Club Career Gaiola progressed through the Petrarca Padova system, eventually making his senior debut for the club in the Top12 (now Top10), Italy's top domestic rugby championship. He established himself as a consistent performer, known for his work rate, tackling ability, and breakdown skills.

In 2017, Gaiola joined Zebre Rugby Club, one of Italy's two professional teams competing in the Pro14 (now United Rugby Championship) and European competitions. He spent several seasons with Zebre, gaining experience at a higher level of competition against teams from Ireland, Scotland, Wales, and South Africa. He made numerous appearances for the Parma-based side before returning to Petrarca Padova. Upon his return to Petrarca, he continued to be a key player, contributing to the team's success in the domestic league.

International Career Gaiola represented Italy at various age-grade levels, most notably for the Italy U20 team. He participated in the World Rugby Under 20 Championship, showcasing his skills on the international stage against other leading rugby nations. While he has not yet earned a cap for the senior Italian national team (Italy A), his performances at club level and for the U20s have marked him as a potential future international prospect.
