Authority
The species was first described by entomologist Sergius G. Kiriakoff in 1953.

Distribution
Rhipidarctia silacea has been recorded in several West and Central African countries, including Cameroon, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Ghana, Nigeria, and Uganda. Records are primarily based on specimen collections and reports in regional lepidopteran surveys.

Habitat
The species inhabits tropical and subtropical forested regions. Specific ecological preferences (e.g., altitude range, microhabitat) have not been extensively documented.

Morphology
Adults exhibit the characteristic morphology of the genus Rhipidarctia, with a robust body and wing patterns typical of the Syntomini tribe. Detailed descriptions of coloration, wing span, and genitalia structures are available in the original taxonomic publication but are not reproduced here.

Biology
Life history information, including larval host plants and behavior, remains poorly known. No published studies have detailed the species' phenology or ecological interactions.

Conservation Status
There is no assessment of Rhipidarctia silacea on the IUCN Red List. Its conservation status has not been formally evaluated.
