René Chiappino

René Orlando Chiappino (born February 24, 1943) is a former Argentine professional footballer who played as a midfielder. He spent the majority of his playing career in Italy.

Biography

Born in La Plata, Argentina, Chiappino moved to Italy at a young age to pursue a professional football career.

Playing Career

Chiappino began his career in the youth system of ACF Fiorentina. He then transitioned to senior professional football, spending over a decade playing for various Italian clubs across Serie B, Serie C, and Serie D.

His notable professional playing spells include:

  • Catanzaro: From 1962 to 1964, he played for Catanzaro, featuring in both Serie B and Serie C.
  • Reggina: He joined Reggina for the 1964–1965 season, competing in Serie C.
  • Cosenza: For the 1965–1966 season, Chiappino played for Cosenza in Serie C.
  • Casertana: He was with Casertana during the 1966–1967 season in Serie C.
  • Akragas: He continued his Serie C career with Akragas for the 1967–1968 season.
  • Andria: In the 1968–1969 season, he played for Andria in Serie D.
  • Foggia: Chiappino had a brief stint with Foggia in the 1969–1970 Serie B season, though his appearances may have been limited.
  • Martina: He concluded his known active playing career with Martina during the 1970–1971 season in Serie D.

Post-Playing Career

Following his retirement as a player, René Chiappino remained involved in football, taking on coaching roles, particularly within youth sectors, for several clubs, including Foggia and Manfredonia.
