Remigijus Šimašius (born January 30, 1974) is a Lithuanian politician who served as the Mayor of Vilnius, the capital city of Lithuania, from 2015 to 2023. A prominent member of the Liberal Movement (Lietuvos Respublikos liberalų sąjūdis) political party, he previously held the position of Minister of Justice of Lithuania from 2008 to 2012 and was a Member of the Seimas (Parliament) from 2012 to 2015.
Early Life and Education Šimašius was born in Vilnius, then part of the Lithuanian SSR, Soviet Union. He pursued higher education at Vilnius University, where he earned a master's degree in law.
