Redouane Aouachria (Arabic: رضوان عواشرية; born 10 November 1969 in Algiers, Algeria) is an Algerian former handball player and later coach. He competed in the men's tournament at the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta, where the Algerian national team finished in 10th place.
Playing Career
Club Career
Aouachria played as a centre back (demi-centre). Domestically, he began with MC Alger, winning the Algerian Championship (1991, 1992, 1994) and the Algerian Cup (1991, 1993, 1994). He also won the African Cup Winners' Cup four times (1991–1994), the African Super Cup (1994), and the Arab Club Champions Championship (1991) with MC Alger.
In France, he played for La Roche-sur-Yon Vendée Handball (1994–1995), HBC Villeneuve d'Ascq (1995–2001), Aix Université Club (2002–2003), and Aurillac Handball Cantal Auvergne (2003–2006). He also played for El Makarem de Mahdia in Tunisia, winning the Tunisian Cup in 1999.
International Career
Aouachria was a long-time member of the Algeria national handball team (1991–2001). His achievements include:
- African Championship: Gold medal (1996), Silver medals (1994, 1998, 2000), Bronze medal (1992)
- World Championships: 16th place (1995, Iceland), 17th place (1997, Japan), 13th place (2001, France)
- Olympic Games: 10th place (1996, Atlanta)
- Mediterranean Games: 5th place (1991)
- African Junior Championship: Winner (1988)
Coaching Career
After retiring as a player, Aouachria became a coach. He managed the Algeria youth national team (2010) and served as assistant coach of the senior Algeria national team under Salah Bouchekriou (2011). He later coached Al-Sadd SC in Qatar (2012–2013) and held various coaching roles in subsequent years, including assistant national coach for Algeria as of 2024–2025.
