Ray Johnson (American football)

Raymond "Ray" Johnson (born July 29, 1965) is a former American football cornerback who played six seasons in the National Football League (NFL) for the New Orleans Saints and Detroit Lions.

Born in Blytheville, Arkansas, Johnson attended Arkansas State University, where he played college football for the Arkansas State Indians (now Red Wolves). After a successful collegiate career, he was drafted by the New Orleans Saints in the fifth round (133rd overall) of the 1988 NFL Draft.

Johnson played four seasons with the New Orleans Saints from 1988 to 1991, primarily as a starting cornerback. He was known for his solid coverage skills and ability to make plays on the ball. In 1992, he signed with the Detroit Lions, where he played for two more seasons before concluding his NFL career after the 1993 season.

Throughout his NFL career, Johnson played in 87 regular-season games, recording 13 interceptions and numerous pass deflections. He was a reliable defensive back for the teams he played for.
