Rangiora

Rangiora is a town in the Canterbury region of the South Island of New Zealand. It is situated approximately 22 kilometres (14 mi) north of Christchurch, on the northern edge of the Canterbury Plains, and forms part of the Waimakariri District. As of the 2018 New Zealand census, Rangiora had a resident population of 15,534.

History
European settlement of the area began in the 1850s, when the town developed as a service centre for surrounding agricultural farms. The township was officially surveyed in 1864 and later became the administrative seat of the former Rangiora County.
