Randy Gingera is a former professional ice hockey player who primarily played as a winger. He is best known for his time in the National Hockey League (NHL) with the Hartford Whalers and Washington Capitals during the late 1980s and early 1990s.
Early Life and Junior Career Born on January 23, 1964, in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada, Gingera developed his hockey skills in his home province. He played junior hockey in the Western Hockey League (WHL) for the Saskatoon Blades, where he was a significant offensive contributor. His performance in the WHL brought him to the attention of NHL scouts.
Professional Career Gingera was selected by the Hartford Whalers in the 5th round, 87th overall, of the 1982 NHL Entry Draft. He made his NHL debut with the Whalers during the 1986–87 season. While he played a limited number of games in the NHL, he spent the majority of his professional career in various minor league affiliations, including the American Hockey League (AHL) and the International Hockey League (IHL).
He was traded to the Washington Capitals during the 1987–88 season, where he played a few more NHL games before continuing his career in the minor leagues.
