Ralf Wilhelms

[[Ralf Wilhelms]] (born 9 October 1963) is a German former professional [[football (soccer)|footballer]] who played as a [[midfielder]]. He is primarily known for his multiple stints with [[VfB Oldenburg]] and for a season with [[SV Werder Bremen]] in the [[Bundesliga]].

Career

Wilhelms began his youth career at [[SV Atlas Delmenhorst]]. He started his senior professional career with [[VfB Oldenburg]] in 1981, initially playing in the [[Oberliga Nord]] before the club's promotion to the [[2. Bundesliga]].

In the 1984–1985 season, Wilhelms transferred to [[SV Werder Bremen]], where he made 12 appearances in the [[Bundesliga]], Germany's top-tier football league.

After his single season with Werder Bremen, he returned to VfB Oldenburg in 1985, continuing to play in the Oberliga Nord until 1988. He then had a two-year spell at his former youth club, SV Atlas Delmenhorst, also in the Oberliga Nord, from 1988 to 1990.

Wilhelms returned to VfB Oldenburg for a third time in 1990, playing two more seasons with the club, which had by then re-entered the 2. Bundesliga. During his various stints with VfB Oldenburg, he accumulated 67 appearances in the 2. Bundesliga. He retired from professional football in 1992.
