Rajiv Menon (born 25 May 1963) is an Indian cinematographer, film director, and photographer who works predominantly in the Tamil and Hindi film industries. He is noted for his contributions to visual storytelling and for directing several commercially successful and critically acclaimed films.
Early Life and Education
Born in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, Menon pursued a degree in photography before entering the film industry. He received formal training in cinematography, which laid the foundation for his subsequent career in visual media.

Cinema
Menon began his career as an assistant to noted cinematographer Balu Mahendra. His debut as an independent cinematographer was with the Tamil film Mouna Ragam (1986), directed by Mani Ratnam, which earned critical praise for its visual style. He subsequently worked on a series of prominent films, including:

Menon made his directorial debut with the Hindi romantic drama Maharathi (1993), which was not released theatrically but later aired on television. His first major commercial success as a director came with the Tamil film Kandukondain Kandukondain (2000), an adaptation of Jane Austen's Sense and Sensibility. The film received multiple awards, including the National Film Award for Best Feature Film in Tamil. He later directed Thiruda Thiruda (1993) and Sillunu Oru Kaadhal (2006), among others.
