Radio Norge is a national commercial radio station in Norway. Launched on January 1, 2004, it was the first commercial radio station in Norway to broadcast nationally on FM following the deregulation of the radio market. The station primarily targets an adult audience with a mix of popular music, news, and entertainment. It is currently owned by Bauer Media Audio Norway.
History
Radio Norge was established by SBS Radio, a subsidiary of the Scandinavian Broadcasting System (later ProSiebenSat.1 Media SE). Its launch marked a significant shift in the Norwegian radio landscape, which had traditionally been dominated by the state broadcaster NRK. The station aimed to offer a broad appeal, initially playing a mix of pop and rock hits from the 1980s, 1990s, and current charts.
Over the years, its programming strategy has evolved to maintain competitiveness in a dynamic market. In 2013, SBS Radio, including Radio Norge, was acquired by Discovery Networks Norway, becoming part of Discovery Inc.'s growing media portfolio in the region. In 2020, Discovery's radio division in Norway was sold to Bauer Media Audio, a subsidiary of the German Bauer Media Group, making Radio Norge part of Bauer Media Audio Norway.
Programming
Radio Norge's programming typically consists of a blend of music, live hosts, news bulletins, traffic updates, and various entertainment segments. The music format generally falls within the Adult Contemporary (AC) and Hot AC categories, featuring a wide range of current pop and rock hits, alongside popular tracks from the last few decades. The station also features morning shows and drivetime programs that often incorporate listener interaction and discussions on current affairs and lifestyle topics.

Significance
Radio Norge has consistently been one of Norway's most listened-to commercial radio stations, often competing directly with NRK P1, the national public broadcaster's flagship channel. Its establishment paved the way for more commercial competition in the Norwegian radio market and has played a key role in shaping the country's private media landscape. Its transition from analogue FM to digital DAB+ broadcasting, completed in 2017, also made it a pioneer in the digitalization of Norwegian radio.
