Pyotr Nikolayevich Mamonov (Russian: Пётр Николаевич Мамонов; 14 April 1951 – 15 July 2021) was a Russian musician, poet, and actor, best known as the founder, vocalist, and primary songwriter of the avant‑garde rock band Zvuki Mu (Sounds of Mu).
Early life and education
Mamonov was born in Moscow, Soviet Union, to a family with a background in the arts; his father was a theatre director. He attended the Moscow Institute of Chemical Technology, graduating in 1977 with a degree in chemistry, though he pursued music rather than a scientific career.

Zvuki Mu (1983‑1990): In 1983, Mamonov formed Zvuki Mu, which quickly gained notoriety within the Soviet underground music scene for its experimental sound, cryptic lyrics, and Mamonov’s theatrical performance style. The band released its debut album, «Звуки Му» (1989), on the independent label Melodiya, followed by «Тот Свет» (1991).

Solo work and collaborations: After Zvuki Mu disbanded in the early 1990s, Mamonov pursued solo projects, releasing albums such as «Пластмассовый мир» (1994) and «Счастливый полёт» (1996).
