Purple Ribbon Records is a record label owned by the hip-hop duo Outkast and distributed through Virgin Records. It was founded in 2000 in Atlanta, Georgia, originally under the name Aquemini Records, named after OutKast's 1998 album Aquemini. The label is run solely by Outkast member Big Boi (Antwan Patton), after co-founder André 3000 (André Benjamin) lost interest in the venture to pursue acting.
The label is credited with launching the career of singer and songwriter Janelle Monáe, whose debut EP Metropolis: Suite I (The Chase) was released as a joint project with Bad Boy Records in 2007. Other notable artists who have recorded under the label include Killer Mike, Sleepy Brown, Bubba Sparxx, Slimm Calhoun, Scar, Konkrete, and the collective known as the Purple Ribbon All-Stars.
