Pueblitos is a census-designated place (CDP) in Valencia County, New Mexico, United States. As of the 2020 United States census, the population was 540.
Geography
Pueblitos is located at coordinates 34°37′23″N 106°46′45″W. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the community has a total area of 2.140 square miles (5.54 km²), of which 2.138 square miles (5.54 km²) is land and 0.002 square miles (0.0052 km²) is water. The elevation is approximately 4,800 feet (1,500 m). New Mexico State Road 116 passes through the community.

Education
Pueblitos is served by the Belén Consolidated Schools district. Belén High School is the district's comprehensive high school.
Etymology and Related Usage
The name "Pueblitos" is Spanish for "little pueblos" or "small villages." The term is also used archaeologically to refer to small, aboveground masonry defensive structures built by the Navajo in northwestern New Mexico during the 17th and 18th centuries (often called Navajo pueblitos or Dinétah pueblitos), which were observed by Spanish travelers in the early to mid-1700s as places of defense against Utes and Comanches.
