Description
Psilogramma angelika is a species of hawk moth in the family Sphingidae. The original description was provided by the German entomologist Ulf Eitschberger in 2004. Detailed morphological characteristics are limited in publicly available sources; the species is generally similar in appearance to other members of the genus Psilogramma, which are medium‑large moths with robust bodies and narrow wings.
Distribution and Habitat
The species is known from the island of Seram in the Maluku Province of Indonesia. The type locality is recorded as Kampung Piru on Seram, at an elevation of approximately 230 m. Its habitat is presumed to be tropical forest environments typical of the region, although specific ecological preferences have not been extensively documented.
Taxonomic Notes
Current taxonomic literature indicates that Psilogramma angelika may be synonymous with Psilogramma sulawesica. This synonymy reflects ongoing revisions within the genus based on morphological and molecular analyses, but the status remains subject to further verification.
