Prosoplus imitans is a species of beetle in the family Cerambycidae (longhorn beetles). It was described by the Austrian entomologist Stephan von Breuning in 1961.
Taxonomy
The species was originally described as Prosoplus (Prosoplus) imitans Breuning, 1961. The type specimen was collected from Christmas Island (south of Java, Indonesia) and is deposited in the Natural History Museum, London (BMNH). In 2013, Ślipiński and Escalona transferred the species to the genus Rhytiphora, resulting in the combination Rhytiphora imitans (Breuning, 1961). Some taxonomic databases continue to list it under Prosoplus.
