Procometis hylonoma is a species of moth in the family Autostichidae. It was first described by the English entomologist Edward Meyrick in 1890.
Distribution The species is found in Australia, specifically recorded from New South Wales, Victoria, and South Australia.
Description The wingspan of the adult moth ranges from 18 to 25 mm. The forewings are white, more or less irregularly sprinkled (irrorated) with ochreous fuscous, and sometimes suffused with whitish ochreous on the dorsal half. A fuscous dot is present on the fold beneath the middle, and another in the disc at two-thirds, though these can sometimes be very indistinct. The hindwings are light fuscous, darker toward the hindmargin, and paler and more whitish ochreous toward the base.
Taxonomy The species belongs to the genus Procometis within the family Autostichidae (superfamily Gelechioidea). Several synonyms exist, including Procometis acompsa (Turner, 1898), Procometis heterogama (Lower, 1899), and Macrozygona microtoma (Lower, 1903).
