Authority
The species was first described by the French entomologist Pierre Viette in 1968.

Description
Problepsis herbuloti is a moth belonging to the family Geometridae, commonly known as geometer moths. Like other members of the tribe Scopulini, it is a relatively small to medium‑sized moth with wings that are typically held flat when at rest. Detailed morphological characteristics (such as wing pattern, coloration, and genitalia structure) are documented in taxonomic literature but are not extensively described in publicly available sources.

Distribution
The species is endemic to Madagascar. Records from the Global Lepidoptera Names Index and other biodiversity databases confirm its presence on the island, but precise locality data and information on its habitat preferences are limited.

Ecology
Specific ecological information, including larval host plants, adult behavior, and conservation status, has not been comprehensively recorded in the scientific literature. As a member of Geometridae, larvae are presumed to be inchworms that feed on various plant species, but exact associations for P. herbuloti remain undocumented.
