Praslin Quarter

Praslin Quarter was a former administrative subdivision, known as a “quarter,” on the Caribbean island nation of Saint Lucia. The quarter was situated in the southeastern portion of the island and included the settlement of Praslin, a coastal village near the present‑day town of Micoud.

The quarter system originated during the French colonial period, when Saint Lucia was divided into several quarters for local governance and land administration. Under subsequent British rule, the quarter structure was retained, and Praslin Quarter continued to function as one of the island’s local units.

During the 20th century, Saint Lucia reorganised its internal administrative boundaries, replacing the historical quarters with modern districts. Praslin Quarter was merged into the contemporary Micoud District (also referred to as Micoud Quarter), and the name is no longer used for any official administrative purpose.

The former Praslin Quarter is occasionally referenced in historical and geographic works concerning Saint Lucia’s colonial administration and in the context of genealogical research related to families from the Praslin area.

Insufficient Encyclopedic Information is available regarding the precise dates of the quarter’s establishment, its exact boundaries, and the administrative act that officially dissolved it.
