Prague 3 is one of the municipal districts of Prague, the capital city of the Czech Republic. Located east of the city center, it encompasses the entire cadastral area of Žižkov, parts of Vinohrady, Vysočany, Malešice, and Strašnice.
Historically, Prague 3 is primarily associated with Žižkov, which was an independent town before being incorporated into Greater Prague in 1922. Žižkov is known for its steep streets, working-class history, and distinct bohemian atmosphere. It is also home to the Žižkov Television Tower, a prominent landmark in the city.
The district is characterized by a mix of residential areas, including historic apartment buildings, and public spaces. It offers numerous parks and green areas, such as Riegrovy Sady, which provides panoramic views of the city, and Vítkov Hill, crowned by the National Monument and a large equestrian statue of Jan Žižka. Prague 3 is also a cultural hub, with various theaters, cinemas, and music venues. Due to its vibrant community and relatively central location, it is a popular residential area.
