Praedora leucophaea is a species of moth in the family Sphingidae (hawkmoths). It was first described by Rothschild and Jordan in 1903.
Distribution and habitat: This species is found in dry bush areas across eastern and southern Africa, ranging from northern South Africa to Kenya. Records indicate its presence in Botswana, Ethiopia, Kenya, South Africa, and Tanzania.
Description: The length of the forewings is 20–21 mm. The moth is commonly known as the creamy hawkmoth. Its forewings are greyish-white with light brown transverse bands, and the hindwings are uniform very pale grey.
Taxonomy: The type locality is Ikutha, Kenya. The holotype specimen (male) is held at the Natural History Museum, London (BMNH).
Larval host plants: The larvae feed on plants of the genus Clerodendrum.
Genus: Praedora leucophaea is one of five species in the genus Praedora, which also includes P. marshalli, P. plagiata, P. puchneri, and P. tropicalis.
