Powerlock is a range of single-pole electrical connectors used for temporary high-current, low-voltage (up to 1000 V AC) applications. They are similar to, but considered safer than, camlock connectors. Originally developed by Litton Veam in the mid-1990s, VEAM Powerlock is now a brand of ITT Cannon. Compatible versions are also available from other manufacturers.
Design and Specifications
Powerlock connectors are available in 400 A and 660 A versions. All versions can be used for single-phase and, more commonly, three-phase applications. Three-phase connections require five separate cables (or four if neutral is not required). The connectors are designated as source (male pin, intended for the supply side) or drain (female receptacle, intended for the equipment receiving power). This gender assignment is opposite to the traditional convention in other power connector designs, but safety is maintained through finger-proof plastic insulating caps and housings.
Applications
Single-pole power connectors such as Powerlock are employed where multi-pole connectors and cables would be impractical due to size, weight, and cable bend radius. They are typically used for connecting large generators and fixed power sources in venues where high-powered temporary equipment is regularly used. Powerlock inputs are available on many large dimmers and power distribution units. Common application fields include:

A range of Powerlock connectors that attach directly to busbars is also available, used for drawing off power for temporary installations or feeding power into busbars during temporary generator hook-ups.
Safety Features
The Powerlock connector includes several safety features to protect against electric shock and connection errors:
- Finger-proof electrical contacts (IP2X touch protection)
- Colour-coded insulators matching wiring colour standards used in Europe, Australia, and North America
- Mechanical keying that prevents mismatched connections (keying is independent of colour coding)
- Locking mechanism requiring a special tool to disconnect
- Sequential mating units that control the connection sequence to ensure earth and neutral connections are made before phase connections
Despite these features, the potential for connection errors exists, and Powerlock connectors are intended to be operated only by trained professionals.

The name "Powerlock" is also used for:
