Situated on the northeastern coast of Mindoro Island, it serves as the primary entry and exit point for passengers and goods moving between the island and mainland Luzon. The port is managed and operated by the Philippine Ports Authority (PPA) under the Port Management Office (PMO) Mindoro.
As a critical component of the Strong Republic Nautical Highway (SRNH)—a nationwide integrated system of roads and ferry routes—the Port of Calapan facilitates significant inter-island trade and travel. It primarily connects to the Port of Batangas, providing a vital link for the transport of agricultural products, livestock, and manufactured goods. The route between Calapan and Batangas is one of the busiest maritime corridors in the Philippines, utilized by various types of vessels including roll-on/roll-off (Ro-Ro) ships, fast crafts, and conventional cargo vessels.
