Polytechnic is a 2014 Indian Malayalam-language action comedy film directed by M. Padmakumar and written by himself. The film stars Kunchacko Boban and Bhavana in the lead roles, with an ensemble supporting cast. It was produced by K. Muraleedharan, Shantha Murali, and V. S. Dileep under the banner of Southern Film Company.
Plot
The story revolves around Pauly (Kunchacko Boban), a young, unemployed, and seemingly aimless individual who is the son of a former MLA. Despite his father's political background, Pauly has little interest in politics until circumstances force him to contest a local by-election from a tribal constituency. He wins the election due to a unique set of events and his genuine, albeit unconventional, approach to helping people.
As an elected representative, Pauly tries to implement welfare schemes and development projects for the tribal community, particularly focusing on establishing a polytechnic college, which faces numerous obstacles from corrupt officials, rival politicians, and vested interests. The film blends elements of action, comedy, and social commentary as Pauly navigates the complexities of politics, bureaucracy, and his personal life, often with humorous consequences. His efforts to bring about change are met with resistance, leading to a series of challenges and confrontations that he must overcome.
