Plesnovka (Russian: Плесновка) is a rural locality (a selo) in Pervomayskoye Rural Settlement, Bogucharsky District, Voronezh Oblast, Russia.
Geography
Plesnovka is located 39 km south of Boguchar, the administrative centre of the district. The nearest rural locality is Lebedinka. The selo lies at coordinates 49°39′N 40°29′E.
Administrative Status
Within the framework of administrative divisions, Plesnovka is part of Pervomayskoye Rural Settlement in Bogucharsky District. The selo has four streets: Zaozernaya, Lenina, Oktyabrskaya, and Sovetskaya.
Demographics
As of the 2010 Russian census, the population of Plesnovka was 296. Earlier figures show 280 inhabitants in 2000 and 269 in 2005.
History
The settlement originated in the mid-18th century as a serf settlement belonging to the Lofitsky noble family. It has been known in documents since 1780. The name is derived from the local ravine called Plesnaya (Плесная). The area was historically composed of several smaller khutors (hamlets), including Plesny 1st (also known as Grekovka), Plesny 2nd (Tomilinka/Tomilenka), and Plesny 3rd (Pokrovka/Lipovka), which later merged into the present-day selo of Plesnovka.
Landmarks
The Church of the Intercession of the Most Holy Theotokos (Церковь Покрова Пресвятой Богородицы), built in 1868 at the expense of Captain I. V. Grekov and his mother, is located in the village. It is a brick rural church in the 17th-century revival style and is considered a regional architectural monument. A former zemstvo school building, constructed in 1910, also stands in the village.
