Piercetown, also spelled Piercestown, (Irish: Baile an Phiarsaigh) is a village in County Wexford, Ireland. It is located in the province of Leinster, approximately 6 kilometres (4 miles) south of the centre of Wexford town.
Geography and Administration
Piercetown lies within the civil parish of Rathmacknee and the barony of Forth. It is also a townland in the Drinagh electoral division. The village is situated in the southeastern part of Ireland, near the coast of the Irish Sea.
Population
According to the 2022 census by the Central Statistics Office of Ireland, the census town of Piercetown had a population of 308 residents. Of these, 155 were male and 153 were female. The age distribution showed 67 persons aged 0–17 years, 187 persons aged 18–64 years, and 54 persons aged 65 years and over. The majority of residents (269) were born in Ireland, while 39 were born in other countries.
Transport
As of October 2025, bus route 390 operates a limited service several times a day between Piercetown and Wexford town.
Name
The Irish name Baile an Phiarsaigh translates to "town of the Pearse" or "Pierce's town," reflecting the anglicised name Piercetown or Piercestown.
