Pidhaitsi Raion

Pidhaitsi Raion (Ukrainian: Підгаєцький район, Pidhaietskyi raion) was a raion (district) in Ternopil Oblast in western Ukraine. The administrative center of the raion was the city of Pidhaitsi.

History and Geography: Pidhaitsi Raion was formed in 1940 as part of the Ukrainian Soviet Socialist Republic. It was situated in the western part of Ternopil Oblast. The raion covered an area of approximately 496 square kilometers.

Demographics: According to the 2001 Ukrainian Census, the population of Pidhaitsi Raion was 21,304.

Administrative Reform: As part of Ukraine's large-scale administrative reforms in July 2020, Pidhaitsi Raion was abolished. Its territory was subsequently merged into the larger and newly expanded Ternopil Raion, bringing an end to its existence as a distinct administrative unit.
