Peter Sandhu

Peter Sandhu is a Canadian former provincial politician who served as a Member of the Legislative Assembly of Alberta, representing the constituency of Edmonton-Decore from 2008 to 2015. He was a member of the Progressive Conservative Association of Alberta.

Early Life and Career Born on January 1, 1961, Sandhu was a businessman prior to his political career. His business ventures included ownership of gas stations, convenience stores, and involvement in real estate development.

Political Career Sandhu was first elected to the Legislative Assembly of Alberta in the 2008 provincial election, representing the riding of Edmonton-Decore. He was re-elected in the 2012 provincial election. During his time in office, he served on various legislative committees.

Controversies In 2013, Sandhu faced significant controversy. He pleaded guilty to four counts under Alberta's Real Estate Act, related to undisclosed financial interests in land transactions and misleading investors. As a result, he was fined $60,000 and had his real estate license suspended for 15 years by the Real Estate Council of Alberta. Despite calls for his expulsion from the legislature by opposition parties, a motion to expel him was defeated in 2014, with the Progressive Conservative caucus maintaining their support for him.
