Peter Holland (born 1944), also known as Austin Holland, is an Australian former broadcaster, interviewer, and newsreader. He worked for the Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC) in radio and television news from 1966 to 1998, and subsequently for Channel Nine from 1998 to 2003. After leaving broadcast journalism, he became a senior lecturer at the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts (WAAPA) at Edith Cowan University.
Holland began his career at the ABC in Perth, where he worked for 32 years as a continuity announcer, newsreader, and interviewer. In 1998, he moved to Channel Nine to read television news for the local Perth station STW. He left that role in 2003 and took up a full-time teaching position at Edith Cowan University, having been a part-time member of staff since 2001. Since 2005, he has served as coordinator of the Graduate Diploma of Broadcasting course at WAAPA.
In the 1984 federal election, Holland unsuccessfully ran as a candidate for the Australian Labor Party in the seat of Forrest. In 1994, he won the Premier's Book Award for an anthology of Western Australian writing, and in 1995 he received the Western Australian Citizen of the Year award in the community services category.
Holland has also been involved in publishing. He edited Summer Shorts (1993) and its second volume (1994, with Barbara Holland), and co-authored The Grapevine: Quick and Tasty Cookbook (1996) with Liz Byrski. He also conducted interviews for the ABC Radio program Peter Holland's Sunday, which were later published in the volume Talking Theatre (1993).
Holland has resided in the Perth Hills since 1972.
