Peillac (French pronunciation: [pɛjak]; Breton: Paolieg; Gallo: Peilla) is a commune in the east of the Morbihan department in the region of Brittany, north-western France.
Geography
Peillac is situated in Haute-Bretagne (Upper Brittany), approximately 10 km northwest of Redon. The commune is bordered by two waterways: the Canal de Nantes à Brest forms its entire northern boundary, and the river Arz forms its southern boundary.
Administration
Peillac belongs to the arrondissement of Vannes and the canton of Guer. It is part of the intercommunality Redon Agglomération. As of 2023, the population was 1,873. Inhabitants are called Peillacois (masculine) and Peillacoises (feminine) in French.
Demographics
The population has remained relatively stable over the long term, with 1,764 recorded in 1793 and 1,873 in 2023. The commune covers an area of 24.57 km² (9.49 sq mi), giving a population density of about 76 inhabitants per km².
