Paul Gollash is an American entrepreneur and business executive, best known as the founder and chief executive officer of Voxy, a language‑learning platform that delivers English instruction through mobile and web technologies.
Early life and education
Gollash was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He earned a Bachelor of Arts in economics from Dartmouth College in 1997. After completing his undergraduate studies, he spent time in Santiago, Chile, before moving to Madrid, Spain, where he worked for Opel, a subsidiary of General Motors Europe, establishing auto‑repair operations in Spain, Portugal, and other Southern European locations. Gollash later returned to the United States to pursue an MBA with honors at the University of Chicago Booth School of Business, graduating in 2004.
Career
Following his MBA, Gollash briefly worked as a management consultant at Booz Allen Hamilton and subsequently joined the Virgin Group, where he contributed to the conception, fundraising, and launch of Virgin Hotels. In September 2010, he co‑founded Voxy with Gregg Carey, drawing on his own experiences learning a second language and his belief in using real‑world content to engage learners. At the 2010 TechCrunch Disrupt conference, Gollash presented Voxy before a panel that included notable technology investors. Under his leadership, Voxy has raised over $20 million in venture funding and has expanded its services to corporate and educational clients worldwide.
Later roles
In addition to his work at Voxy, Gollash has held senior positions in other education‑technology and assessment organizations. Notably, he was appointed General Manager of the re‑imagined K‑12 business at Educational Testing Service (ETS), where he oversees the development of assessment and learning solutions for K‑12 education.
Personal life
In May 2015, Gollash married Maria Cabo. The couple has a daughter, Greta.
