Patricio Javier Urrutia Oñate (born 22 March 1975) is an Ecuadorian former professional footballer who played primarily as a central midfielder. He is best known for his lengthy tenure with Liga Deportiva Universitaria de Quito (LDU Quito) and for representing the Ecuador national team, including participation in the 2006 FIFA World Cup.
Early life and youth career
Urrutia was born in Quito, Ecuador. He began his football development in the youth ranks of local clubs, ultimately progressing to professional status in the mid‑1990s.
Club career
- Early clubs (1995–1997): Urrutia started his senior career with clubs such as Tecnico Universitario and Deportivo Cuenca, gaining experience in the Ecuadorian Serie A.
- LDU Quito (1998–2009): In 1998, he joined LDU Quito, where he became a pivotal player for more than a decade. During his tenure, he contributed to numerous domestic titles, including multiple Serie A championships (2003, 2005 Apertura, 2007).
