Patchel Run is a stream in the U.S. state of Pennsylvania. It is a tributary to French Creek, which flows into the Allegheny River, part of the Mississippi River watershed leading to the Gulf of Mexico.
Location and Course: Patchel Run rises on the Wolf Run divide approximately 2 miles northwest of Galloway, Pennsylvania, in Venango County. It flows south to meet French Creek at Foster Corner, Pennsylvania. The stream has a length of approximately 3.41 miles (5.49 km) and drains a basin area of 6.76 square miles (17.5 km²).
Physical Characteristics: The stream's source elevation is about 1,440 feet (440 m), and its mouth at French Creek is at an elevation of 984 feet (300 m). The average annual discharge at the mouth is approximately 11.85 cubic feet per second (0.336 m³/s). About 79% of the watershed is forested, and the area receives an average of 44.5 inches (1,130.99 mm) of rainfall per year.
Name Origin: Patchel Run was named after Edward Patchel, an early settler in the area. According to the Geographic Names Information System, historical variant names include "Patchell Run" and "Patcher Run."
Notable Features: The stream is crossed by U.S. Route 322. Patchel Run Road (Route 4003) runs along the stream corridor in Sugarcreek Borough and Jackson Township, and has been the subject of PennDOT paving projects.
